Oh snaps.

Welcome to the internets. Where most of you spend countless hours during the week. We get paid to sit in front of the computer and pretend to do work, but really, we're finding out what Lindsay Lohan had for breakfast and googling awkward pictures of cats. Here's a toast (a blog toast because drinking is NOT allowed during work...) to all of you 40 hours a week craftsmen. Because let's be honest, we are all craftsmen. Do you know how hard it is to quickly exit a facebook browser?

Congress Declares Pizza a Vegetable.

ALRIGHT, YOU GUYS. I GIVE UP.

On Tuesday, Congress passed a bill declaring that one slice of pizza is equal to one serving of vegetables.

In response to a proposal from the Obama administration attempting to make school lunches healthier, Congress declared that the tomato paste on a pizza is healthy enough and will be considered a proper serving of vegetables for school lunches:

'Tuesday, by act of Congress, pizza was declared a vegetable. The Spending Bill before our elected officials contained an Agriculture Department provision recognizing that school kids are dangerously obese, and that subsidizing school lunches of frozen pizza and french fries is unwise and unhealthy. The Congressional response: a slice of pizza = a serving of vegetables.' -NotionsCapital

The best part? The American Frozen Food Institute spent over $5 MILLION convincing Congress that their annual $11 Billion school lunch profits need to be protected. And yep, Congress agreed.

So to all parents and future parents, you have Congress to thank for passing a bill that will allow kids to continue eating government-subsidized fatty foods that they will soon regard as 'vegetables' instead of attempting to make school lunches just the slightest bit healthier.

Hooray. 'MERICA!

**Also, as one reader pointed out, tomato isn't even a vegetable! It's technically a fruit!

  1. YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME! Perfect let's harm the kids even more, increase obesity and have more kids with Type 2 diabetes in this country. I am a nursing student and this is the last things anyone in health care wants to see. Also, tomato is a fruit....not a vegetable and how can you consider the whole pizza, mainly consisting of carbohydrates, fat, and dairy a vegetable!?!?

  2. honestly? f the kid is eating otherwise healthy diet, it shouldn't be such a problem if one meal daily is not exceptionally healthy.. .the problem is that mothers are lazy to make healthy meals for their kids (breakfasts, snacks, dinners...) and use all those pre-made/frozen dinners, feed their kids at fast foods etc...
